EGA's CelestiAL solar aluminium is in use for MBRSC's most advanced commercial satellite

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), partnered with Gulf Extrusions and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) to use CelestiAL solar aluminium in space.
CelestiAL aluminium will be used in MBRSC's MBZ-SAT, the region's most advanced commercial satellite in the field of high-resolution satellite imagery, which is due to be launched in 2024.
This partnership is a new milestone for the UAE's goal to become a leader in space exploration and for the 'Make it in the Emirates' programme, an initiative by the UAE Government to encourage companies to develop and manufacture products in the UAE, doubling the size of the industrial sector by 2031.
The use of aluminium in space exploration dates back to 1957, owing to lightweight, strength and resistance to corrosion.
