Africa’s Primary Aluminium Production Drops By 2% İn April’23 After İmproving İn The Previous Month

The latest data from the International Aluminium Institute showed primary aluminium production in Africa recorded a fall of 3,000 tonnes or 2.29 per cent month-on-month during April 2023, coming in at 128,000 tonnes. In March 2023, Africa’s output stood at 131,000 tonnes, up by 8,000 tonnes or 6.50 per cent from 123,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year calculation, primary aluminium production in Africa during April 2023 also registered a drop of 3,000 tonnes, as the output last April also stood at 231,000 tonnes.
From January to April 2023, primary aluminium output in Africa totalled 520,000 tonnes, down by 8,000 tonnes or 1.5 per cent from 528,000 tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Africa’s average primary aluminium production on a daily basis was 4,300 tonnes during April’23, which in contrast to the monthly output, reflected an increase of 1,000 tonnes from 4,200 tonnes a month ago. But on a year-on-year basis, Africa’s daily output showed a fall of 1,000 tonnes from 4,400 tonnes.
The world’s primary aluminium production in April 2023 stood at 5.628 million tonnes, which also declined from the previous month by 3.18 per cent from 5.813 million tonnes. On a year-on-year basis, the output grew slightly by 0.34 per cent from 5.609 million tonnes.
