According to data revealed by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Iran’s aluminium ingot production grew by 2,834 tonnes, or 1 per cent, on an annual basis over the financial year ended March 19, 2024.
As per the data, Iran produced 635,000 tonnes of aluminium ingot in FY2024 compared to 632,166 tonnes in FY2023. In the preceding year, Iran’s aluminium ingot production recorded an increase of 17.36 per cent Y-o-Y.
In the past eleven months, Iran’s major aluminium producers, including South Aluminum Corporation (SALCO), Iranian Aluminum Company (IRALCO), Almahdi Aluminum Company, and Iran Alumina Company, collectively produced 582,200 tonnes of aluminium ingot.
Hence, it can be calculated that these four leading producers, churned out 52,800 tonnes of aluminium in March, compared to 54,893 tonnes of output in February.
The month-on-month downfall in production or a slight rise in annual output could be attributed to the rising energy restrictions across Iran.
However, by March 2025, Iran aims to produce 1 million tonnes of aluminium ingot, and by 2026, it aspires to achieve 1.5 million tonnes of aluminium ingot output.
